One of my New Year's resolutions this year is to paint my kitchen cabinets. It's weird because I never ever have resolutions. And the one time I decide to pick one, it's something monstrous :) Figures. I hardly ever write about my kitchen. Mainly because I never really have any projects going on in there and the fact that it has stayed looking the same for the past 5 years. Serious. Maybe a spice rack has moved from one corner to the other but that's about it. It was a hard decision to paint my cabinets because they are really really beautiful...just not my taste. I always wished I would have moved into a home that either had white cabinets already :) ...or had dated oak cabinets that I wouldn't feel bad painting. But these cabinets are knotty alder and have some beautiful character....so, that's why it has been so many years of living with something I don't like even though they are nice :)
Anyways. One downfall to the cabinets is that they cast a weird goldish yellow hue all over the kitchen. The kitchen isn't bright like I like. So...until the huge process of the cabinet painting commences, I figured I would try to add a little cheer and brightness to the place. It's not much for now, but more small projects are already in the works. So for now, it's just a cute little printable that I whipped up (no pun intended...but actually kind of funny considering...so I guess pun totally intended :) )
I decided to actually change the stuff up on my counters. I have had this cookbook on the counter for years now and I think I may have baked one recipe in there. And yet there it sits like I use the recipes on it all the time. I figured it was about time to change that up and add a little something else. So, I put these prints in some Ikea frames and called it good!
It adds just a little bit of 'lightness' to the kitchen. Not much...but hey, this kitchen hasn't changed from 5 years so it's actually a dramatic change on my end :)
The large print is a 8x10 and the small is a 4x6. Download them here for your own personal use!
Grand MERCI .
