To start off, I took some chalkboard spray paint and painted the lid insert. I then wrapped some jute around the lid rim. When wrapping the jute, I didn't do it too tight since I knew the insert still had to fit in there. It was a tight enough squeeze as is :)
After putting it together, I opted to add some cute little snowflake buttons I found at Michaels. I just cut the backs off of them with some scissors. To hang it, I used some jute and hot glued it to the back.
Now if I can get my handwriting to look cute lol :)

Super cute ornament! And I too have mason jar lids with no mason jars to put them atop! Crazy, right? Not sure how that happens!
