I decided to keep it simple and just do the three sided trees. To do it, I cut some trees off my Silhouette and then traced them onto three different colors of felt. Three trees for each color. I then cut out the trees. I made the white tree first and realized how the pen mark really stands out, so for the next two trees, I made sure to cut inside the pen line.
I then took some hot glue and placed it on half of one tree.
And then placed a second tree on top of that one.
I then hot glued the third tree onto the other side.
And then closed the tree together with some more hot glue.
I then grabbed some small dowels I had from a previous craft, cut them into different sizes and hot glued them into the middle of the trees, all the way to the top.
I forgot to take a good picture of this, but the next step is to cut a disc of wood and drill a hole into the middle, not all the way through. I would recommend doing it thicker than what I have. I was trying to make more cuts and the wood kicked back at me :) That was enough for me to stop and keep with what I already had. I then placed some hot glue into the hole, and put the dowel into it.
I should also add that I did two different sizes of trees. Two large ones and a smaller one.I just love how they are three dimensional. I currently have these in my bedroom and just love them! The perfect amount of Christmas :)
What a great tutorial! I love that you can customize the trees in any color.
