I was provided product by Behr and compensated to write about this project, but all thoughts, opinions, and ideas are my own :)
Let's start with a little story. Back in the day when I was in my teens, my mom gave me the go ahead to paint my bathroom. I chose purple. Dark purple. It was my favorite color back then. It actually even became one of my wedding colors. But, to be honest, the bathroom was baby pink before, so the purple was actually pretty nice :) Fast forward more than 10 years later and the bathroom still looks like this.
My poor mom lol This is a basement bathroom that was only used for the occasional guest, but still. Not something really to welcoming. And yep, that's even my random decor pieces. One thing I do give myself decent credit for was picking the cute towel bars. At least I wasn't batting a complete zero. Oh, and in the shower, I even hand painted some vines and leaves in sage green :) I know you are so jealous!
So, now we are at 10+ years later, and I was contacted by Behr to do a project for their designer stories series, and I quickly decided it was about time to change the bathroom to a welcoming retreat.
I painted the bathroom from top to bottom and added board and batten to all the walls. I also framed out the mirror. The colors that were used are Chocolate Froth for the bottom portion and Swiss Coffee for the top. For the full tutorial on the board and batten and paint, go check out my post on Behr's Designer Stories website!
I also sewed up a new pair of curtains for the window. I didn't realize what a difference this would make!
The light was updated along with the towels and other decor pieces.
Up next in the bathroom is painting out the vanity. My mom and I both love the character of it; it just needs a little refresh. Then the flooring! this linoleum is so old and pretty gross :) But for now, I think the bathroom is a complete 180 turn around! I'm excited how pretty it ended up looking...even if it did take over a decade to do lol

How did you put up the wood around the mirror? I have a large mirror like this, too, and it goes straight to the wall corner. I am not sure that nailing the wood to the mirror would work... :)
ReplyDeleteYou give me hope! My bedroom is a deep purple and I'm actually considering chocolate froth. It's a north facing room and so tricky trying to find the right shade.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding transformation . I love it all.
