I was provided product by DecoArt and compensated to write about this project, but all thoughts, opinions, and ideas are my own :)
Father's Day is just around the corner and I'm all about handmade gifts :) So, I decided that a docking station was a need in our house! I can't tell you how often we lose keys, forget where the phone is or just have a huge pile of stuff emptied from pockets. This is the solution here :) Here's an easy DIY version that anyone can make! It's super simple :)To start, you'll need these (or similar) measurements for wood. This station should fit most phones, of course, I'm not too sure about those huge phones the size of a notebook. But, you should still be able to use the same idea, just larger measurements, if you have something bigger you want to fit on this...like an iPad.
Other Supplies:
DecoArt Satin Enamels Paint
Wood Glue
Hook
To start, get the two smaller pieces and use wood glue and secure them onto the 1.25" piece as shown below:
Next, I secured the angle piece to the back of the larger piece. I did this 3" up. The higher you put it, the more slanted or angled the docking station will be when standing up.
Then I painted the piece with DecoArt's Satin Enamels. I used Charcoal Grey for the main larger piece.
And Seaside Blue for the smaller pieces.
I then secured the phone piece onto the front side of the larger board. This was also 3" up from the bottom. If you have a larger phone, you can place this lower so it doesn't hang off the top.
I also added some dimension to the whole piece by outline the edges with the opposite color.
Next, I added a place to hang keys and a watch. As you probably noticed, I only ended up keeping one of these since my husband doesn't wear watches much anymore :)
Here's a good side view of the piece when it's all done.
This little hook actually would work great for keys and watch if need be.
Here's how/where you would load the phone charging cord.
And there you have it! Really simple! If you want this to be from the kids for Father's Day, it's a simple project even they can do if you cut the pieces for them! Putting a cute little hand print where the phone lays would be a great special touch :)

This looks awesome! I'd love to have one for myself, actually, but I bet my dad would like one too. Love the colors you made this - super cute!
