I am so excited to share with you the second edition of my Fall home tour! I have been working like crazy trying to get this room a little closer to how I envisioned it this Fall, and it's slowly coming together :) I have one big project left, but I feel comfortable with showing you how far it's come. You probably won't be able to notice much of a difference, but I sure do!
The first thing you'd probably notice is this new rug! I seriously don't know what I was thinking getting a white high pile rug with two toddlers and a dog. It was a mistake! haha. So, I decided to switch it out for this rug that's hand woven and a little more "cottage" anyway. Definitely a more laid back and relaxed look, which I love. And this rug is so easy to clean and no crumbs get stuck way down in the darkest depths like the other rug! It's the Safavieh Montauk Hand Woven rug in Sand which you can get from Amazon (link here).
The next change was adding a little board and batten into this space to break up the beige walls. My next big project is adding it to the adjacent wall, but all the way above the window to break up the two story living space. Adding this little piece right here seriously changed the whole feel of the space for me. (I'll show you some before and afters in a new post later)
And another thing I had to do was make a new slipcover for this ottoman. I didn't listen to my own advice, and forgot to wash the fabric of the first cover before I made it, so it shrunk a ton in the wash and the ottoman looked like a stuffed sausage when I put it on there. haha. So, as much as I loathed making another, I had to :)
As for the Fall touches in here, I didn't do much except add a few pumpkins here and there.
I also added more wood to the shelves. My vision was to have wood all the way to the top, but my budget got in the way of me. I was going to cut these all in half, but I had a bad run in with the saw one time doing that, and decided the loss of a hand is not worth it ;)
For the colors in this room, I went with beiges, tans and whites. I just LOVE this pillow. I bought it last year and never used it and can't figure out why! I bought this from Amazon also (link here).
For the mantel, I just added some pumpkins and changed out the flowers to ones that have a little more orange and red in them.
I know this is a lot of a wood for someone who has a gas fireplace, but I don't care! :) I just love all the texture it brings and it totally reminds me of Fall.
I got these gingham pillows on clearance from Target. Goodness knows I don't need anymore pillows, but I continue to buy them for some reason.
A few more pumpkins were added on top of my candlesticks. I also added this black clock. I'm getting more and more daring and adding black into my decor instead of all whites :) It's a change, but I love the contrast!
Here's a few more pictures of my living room all ready for Fall :)
Now for my bedroom. I don't usually change much in here, just the pillows. But it's always nice to do a room tour to give me a reason to clean it! :)
I've been thinking of a few changes to do in here also. It's always hard when you already love a bedroom so much to do changes to it...I wish I had an infinite number of rooms to work on so I can leave others as is sometimes :)
I'm all about adding plaids and sweater type pillows to warm things up during the colder months, and well plaids just fit perfectly with Fall for me. I got this pillow on clearance from Target last year also and wish I had picked up two of them!
My nightstands haven't changed much, just added a new clock and some different plants.
I did get around to adding a little pumpkin to our wall table though :) Oh, and a pumpkin candle burning too! When I get the pumpkin candle going, that means I'm finally in the mood for Fall. It took a little bit to get into it, but I think I have finally accepted that Summer is leaving us and I need to embrace the new season :)
And here's an idea of what the other side of this room looks like. I'm still trying to get the opposite side of this dresser figured out and hope to share that soon :)
Love your fall decor. Perfect amount of color and texture without being too much and so glad it is not all orange too. I am crazy about your beige and browns with the white.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I am loving your couch pillows :)
ReplyDeleteRooms in a white color is a treat to eyes. Interior designing of these rooms are awesome and delightful to see. Everything is par excellence.
ReplyDeleteI love your decorating style but I must ask, where is your lovely comforter from? I absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteI also love the white color, it's so clean and inviting. That new tan and white striped rug you got really brings it all together it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love your wood storing shelves. It is not "too much" for me at all. As a professional carpenter in London I have always tried to combine the coziness of a small wooden house in the forest with the modern city life and I can say you did it! Perfect ideas, Alicia. You have done great job.
ReplyDeleteYour living room is really amazing! Carefully designed, plus the fact that the furniture where really selected with taste. There is a order process here in which everything is arranged beautifully and accordingly.
