Happy week of spring! I'm excited to share my spring dining room with you all today. For spring this year, I kept it mainly neutral but added lots of pops of green. I think green is almost the new neutral...or they seem to compliment each other pretty good :) I haven't shared my dining room since Christmas, so let's get on with it!
The tablescape is something that was a little leftover from Christmas and some new things added in. I have been on this weird candlestick collecting binge lately, so I had to add some on the table...by some, I mean 8. Ha! Let's just say if my power ever went out, I would totally be set in terms of lighting. Not just for in here, but for my whole house. Yes, it might be a bit obsessive :)
I found this amazing weathered wood crate at Home Goods recently and couldn't find any place it would fit...it's to wide for almost all my tables. So, I placed it on here and kind of loved it. Just gave this tablescape another layer...and some height!
The table runner was a find from Hobby Lobby. The texture in it is great, and it's a great contrast to my dark table. I then swagged some lambs ear garland along it and in between the candlesticks.
For the place settings, I used my go-to favorite braided place mats along with round plates and alternating square and round bowls. That's what happens when things break! You improvise :) These napkins are new and from the etsy shop Living With Amanda. As for what's inside each bowl... I was at a weird standstill on what to do in each bowl. I felt the bowls just looked too empty. I usually add something in them, and for spring, it's usually some sort of greens. Well, as you can see I have a fair share of greens already going on in here, so I was trumped. Then I went to my favorite thing to add to empty spaces...wood bead garland. But, I only had a few big ones. So, I made these cute little ones just for the place settings. You can see the tutorial for them here >
My buffet has become a favorite place to decorate especially with the addition of my new bread boards.
This is just a few of the boards in my collection. I think they add so much charm to the space.
I know there are a lot of people who actually decorate their tiered trays...I don't :) Mine is kept strictly for coffee mugs cuz goodness knows I have too many! I can't let prime real estate like that go to waste ;) This cute little stool is actually a plant stand from Hobby Lobby. I just topped it with a napkin to add that extra little layer.
Here's an angle that isn't shown often, but I wanted to share with you my new wired cup holder. I had my DIY one there for years, but got such a great deal on this one, I had to get it.
And another angle not shown often...usually because my kitchen is always trashed. haha :) I'm actually going to share my kitchen with you next week with some minor updates (not trashed). But, for now, this is what you get.
I know it's odd, but I'm a total fan of adding blankets and pillows to dining room chairs. It's a great way to soften up the look and make it look more inviting. Even though it's spring and that's supposed to mean good weather, it rarely is around here. So, it's nice having a blanket to throw on when it gets cold...yes, even during dinner. But this space actually gets used a lot more than just to eat food :)
And there you have it! My dining room is seriously one of my favorite rooms. We have thought about moving often, but my dining room always pulls me back in. You'd be surprise at how many houses around here don't have a formal dining room. I wouldn't consider ours too formal since it opens to our living room, but it's a great size and separate enough. Plus, this table goes to 10 feet. Imagine trying to find a house that fits that :)
