It's the most wonderful time of year! Haven't we all been just waiting for Christmas....like all year this year? Even with a sucky year, Christmas seems to bandaid it all. I'm super excited to be sharing my cozy Christmas living room tour with you today! I'm joining Carrie from Lovely Etc. for her annual Very Merry Christmas Home Tours. There are 16 other very talented designers and decorators sharing their homes with you today too! To see the full list and to gather some inspo check out the bottom of this post.

To help accent the colors on the Christmas tree, I went very neutral with creams and woods around the room. This tray on my ottoman is filled with "antique" deconstructed books, candles in a lantern...and of course another flocked tree.
I added these reindeer and sign that have adorned this tree for the past couple of years along with some stick snowflakes. I found these wood snowflakes from Hobby Lobby, and also added some pinecones and long snowy twigs. To fill in some of the gaps, I placed some pearly white balls. It came together a lot easier than anticipated! I hate those years that you decorate and redecorate your Christmas tree like three times trying to find the perfect look. Luckily, this year was not one of them!
If you look throughout my house this year, I have candles everywhere. There's something about candles and Christmas that just go together. So, of course, I had to add some to my mantel. This is also the piece that helped inspired my decor this year hanging in the back. It looks like architectural salvage from a cute gingerbread house...it's almost Scandinavian to me. It made me think of lots of fluffy flock and sweaters. Because of that, every tree in this room, small or big, is flocked. I even brought in my super fluffy blankets and sweater and cable knit pillows.
I hung the stockings on a birch branch. This is connected by some jute on the ends and nailed into the shiplap on the wall. I hang the stockings with jute also, so come Christmas morning, we just have to cut the jute to get the stockings down.
When decorating my mantels, I tend to use the same things just in different ways no matter what season. Candlestick, greenery, books and usually some sort of vase or plotted plant with something big in the middle back! It's all about the layers for me.
This angle of my house doesn't get seen a lot, but on the catwalk is another tree...because you know, one can never have too many :) This also shows the arch that is apparently not in style any more :)
This is one of my favorite views in this room...layers upon layers of whites, greens, and wood.
Now for the other side. I bought this apothecary cabinet a few years ago, painted it and had no idea where to put it. It ended up as a side table...weird, but totally works for us! It's a fun little spot to decorate also. We have a block calendar on here, candlesticks, books, a lantern and a swag of greenery. I guess I kind of decorate it like I would a mantel :)
My living room looks into my dining room, our "great room" I guess is what they call it. This couch has seen better days and cross your fingers that by this time next year I will have a new one! I add lots of pillows on here year around to hide the ugly. For Christmas, I went with the sweater pillows and my favorite burlap Christmas ones. For the blankets, I accented with a neutral plaid.
This is our toy corner. That cabinets houses masses amounts of toys along with the window seat next to it. Thankfully, it's also another place to decorate! This year, I added my white village to it along with the trees. That clock has been a favorite tradition for my kids. I designed and made it a few years ago. (you may find places that have knocked it off and sell it without my permission....but don't buy it because you can make it so much cheaper!! Promise. Here's the link to my tutorial). <<<and no, I'm not mad about it anymore .. I'm over it .. maybe ;)
In between the candles I draped some flocked greens to soften the mantel.
