I'm super excited for today! For three reasons, daylight savings time is next week, spring is close and I'm sharing my living room for the first time since I got all new furniture! This room looks so much different from last years spring home tour. Goodness, doesn't everything look so different compared to this time last year anyway? It's amazing how much changes in a year...things that totally blindside you. I hope you made it safely to the other side (if we are even there yet!) and are enjoying your family and exploring your creativity even more now! It was during this spring tour last year that school went on dismissal to online school. I never thought that I would be here today saying that I am now a homeschooling mom...by choice! Time sure does change things and your outlook on life and priorities doesn't it?
Today, I'm joining 30 other talented bloggers sharing their homes all decorated for spring! For once, spring is a weird thing because I don't feel like we even got a winter! This year has truly been weird! ha! This tour is hosted by the wonderful Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. If you are following along the tour and coming from Inspiration For Moms, welcome! Isn't Laura's home just beautiful?! You can see the full line up at the bottom of this post.
Walking into my living room, you are greeted by a huge arch and a large, open two story ceiling. This room is pretty lofty, so I've tried my best to create an intimate space. This is where our family hangs out like 80% of the time. Most of the time, decorating for spring means taking down my winter decor and putting up springy greens and lavender. This year, it was all about getting rid of my sectional and a few key furniture pieces and switching things up a bit.
This chair is one of the newest additions. I wasn't sure about the size at first, but I've come to love it. It's so comfy and brings more coziness to the space.
Here's a peak at the new love seat and sofa...well, new to me anyway! We had our sectional for over 11 years and it was just time to get rid of it. I've been wanting something new for a few years now. I think staying in the house more and having my family here more got me a little cabin feverish and I just needed something new now! ha! This whole set is from the Ektorp line from Ikea. They have discontinued them and replaced them with the Uppland line. I wanted to purchase my couches new, but the Uppland have been out of stock since fall of last year and won't be back until May...maybe. So, I told myself if I could find some new-ish Ektorps, I would buy them. I got super lucky with these. All of them were just purchased last year and were in near new condition for less that half the price! I got this whole set for $640...that's the love seat, sofa and chair. I put the $200 I got from selling my sectional towards that, so out of pocket was $440 for a whole new(ish) set! Bonus, is that they are all slipcover which makes the white a more manageable thing to keep clean :)
Throughout this room, you'll notice I added lots of faux hanging greens. The ones on my mantel are from Hobby Lobby, and the ones in the terracotta pots are from Ikea. PS. I think Ikea has the best faux plants :)
This corner has also changed since last year. I added this beautiful free standing arched wood mirror.
The fun thing about not having the sectional is the ability to move the furniture around more and getting new angles! ..and of course another place to put a side table.
For my spring mantel, I used lots of candlesticks and hanging faux greenery. These were purchased from Hobby Lobby. The middle hanging piece is from Decor Steals. I love the character it brings! And yes...because I have so many people comment about it. I have a gas fireplace with wood on my shelves. They have been there for years now...probably about 4 to be exact. I love the look and I feel like adding other things will just clutter the space...been there, done that. The way I see it, if you like something, do it :) Doesn't matter if it makes sense or not. I'll probably even add more wood on here if anything to fill the gaps.
My ottoman is one thing in this room that stayed the same. It ended up matching perfectly with the rest of the couches. I've thought about changing it out for a circular wood coffee table to ground the room a bit and offer a different look. When I find the perfect one, I'm sure I'll change it out.
The styling on my coffee table was a little random this year :) I feel like it's more put together usually, but this time I just put some of my favorite pieces on it. I figure what can go wrong with books, candles, candlesticks and a plant.
This side of the room also has some new things besides the couches. I redid this old secretary hutch to give this corner a little more character. It also offers a great place to display decor, and the bottom half has all the storage I need for my kid's toys.
And because I think full room pictures give the best feel for a space, here are a couple!
You can see how last year's spring tour was here to see the drastic change! Well, drastic to me anyway! I'm excited to change up the furniture arrangement in here on a whim now!

Faux Beam: Tutorial Wood Arch: Antique Farmhouse
When walking into this room, I feel the biggest difference from before. It's so bright and airy now! Also, I replaced my card catalogue for this tree stump. The card catalogue was already a big side table to begin with, but it worked with my sectional. It was so tall compared to arm of my new sofa though. I just moved it to the wall below the picture gallery in my dining room. I didn't like having to move it, but I think I replaced it with something just as unique. And because I think full room pictures give the best feel for a space, here are a couple!
