I cant' believe it's been a year now since I made my front living room a complete white box! ha! I added all the board and batten into this room, painted the ceilings and every wall from beige to white last spring. The only thing left beige was the carpet! Funny thing, we saved all the extra laminate flooring from the rest of our house in plans of ripping out this carpet, and putting it in here too. That was 4 years ago 🙈

For my spring mantel decor, I kept my main stays, such as the candles and books. I then added this beautiful garland...yes, that's garland! I found this garland from Hobby Lobby. It only took one piece to get this look. Since this is a none working fireplace, obviously, I added the book pages in the back and placed some candlesticks in the front. The candlesticks have been bought throughout the years from different places, and actually ended up matching pretty good! I switched out my normal sweater pillows for these cute tassel ones, also from Hobby Lobby.

For my dough bowl on my bench, I added a galvanized white pale with some faux lavender. I used another garland as the filler along with a wicker ball and some looks pages from a book. I love dough bowl decor, it's a fun thing to change throughout the seasons! Also, this bench houses all the play dishes and fake food. I love it in here because of it's size and it's duel functionality.
One of the most recent additions to this room was moving out all the homeschool stuff, and adding this refurbished china cabinet. In reality, the homeschooling never happened on the desks that used to be in the corner. It became a catch-all and a huge eyesore. I moved that out, and moved in this amazing cabinet. You can see the full before and after of this space....and the awful in-between...at this post (click here to view).
And because before and after pictures are the best! This is legit how I decorated it when we first moved into our home over 10 years ago. Yes, this is the same room. Yes, I blogged about this room looking like this. This looks soooo small....and sooo beige. There's no character in here at all. It's amazing what some molding on the wall can do, and the addition of a few select, special pieces :) We all have to start somewhere. It took me years...years to find my decorating groove and style. Sometimes it just comes for some people, and sometimes it takes time and a lot of curated stuff :)
