The weather is finally warming up and I have the touch of sun on my skin. This is my favorite time of year! The days where I get to spend all day outside and forget the mess inside :) Luckily for you...and frankly, for me...I actually came inside and cleaned my house to share this tour with you. I'm sharing my living room summer decor today. This room doesn't change much between spring and summer, so this is perfect to share it during late spring but as my summer decor.
This week, Marty from A Stroll Thru Life is hosting the summer home tour series. I'm lucky enough to share today behind Decor To Adore. I just love Laura's home and amazing ideas! You can see all the other tours going on today and the rest of the week at the bottom of the post :)
Let's get started! This room is slowly transforming from farmhouse style to cottage style and I'm loving the coziness of it all. I've been adding lots of textures, layers and more feminine elements. I've also been adding more antique finds to give this space more history.
Here's a tip for TV artwork. I find the vintage art youtube channel and pick my favorite set of prints and turn it on. It's something pretty to look at while the TV is "off". You can even find some beautiful scenery shots with background music, which I love also!
I recently switched up this corner in the back of my living room with the antique pie safe I found last fall. I'm using it to hold my crazy amount of throw blankets...sadly, this is only a small portion of them :) I've kept the color scheme on my couches light and airy as well with linen pillow covers and my favorite ruffle euro shams.
Decorating the top of this pie safe has been so fun. I've added some new and old vintage items. I've also removed my gallery wall that used to hang along this corner wall. It was hard to remove...it's been there for forever! But, it made this space too busy. I'll eventually get around to hanging the pictures back up in our upstairs hallway so those memories won't be shoved in a box :) With that gone, it freed up some space to hang this enamel Fresh Cut Flowers sign. This sign floats around my house every year, and will eventually make it's way back outside.
That book on the end table there was an amazing find during an antiquing trip. It's from the 1800s and all about business law. It's been fun to read it and see how things have changed today. I remember college and my business law book, which I still have, and this brought back memories the moment I saw it. Looking through it is eye opening and shows how much we have grown as a nation and adapted to the times.
I'm not one to add flowers into my decor often, but decided to add a little pink touch in my dough bowl on top of the dresser behind my couch. I then added some old spindles and a green leafed garland.
Small changes in this room over the years have made me love it even more. I love to see how my style transitions and changes. Finding the right amount of cozy, comfort and practicality with a family can be hard. I've learned to keep things washable and replaceable, it's that simple :)
I hope you enjoyed the tour and got even a little inspiration from it. I also hope you enjoy your summer! If you are continuing on the blog hop, next up is Clean and Scentsible. You will love Jenn's house and decorating style! Below are the other tours going on this week.
