Whisper of Fall Pie Safe Decorating Ideas

Well, September is here. Summer is about to fade away. I'm totally not okay with that. I'm a summer loving girl, and for me, fall just means winter is going to rear it's ugly little head in no time. As much as I hate to see summer go, I do enjoy getting creative and trying out new things. I decided to bring in a subtle whisper of fall and decorate my new pie safe that I shared how to make with you a few weeks ago. If you missed the tutorial, you can check it out here.

I have had a pie safe in this corner for years now...always closed up with extra mugs hiding in it. I never once thought to decorate it, only the top. I joined some friends on Instagram today who shared inspo on fall pie safe decor, and I knew it needed to be more than just a shut up ol' pie safe with dusty mugs, haha.

For the decor, I went with a vintage feel, and grabbed some goodies around my house. The color scheme was neutral with pops of golds. My whisper of fall came with the picture hanging on the door, and the dried fall wheat stems. I also added the blanket to the chair in front. Other ways to add just a touch of fall into your home without going all out crazy is pretty simple:
  • Add textures
  • Add layers
  • Add warm tones and colors
  • Add dried stems
  • Add fall patterns such as plaid
  • Add fall stems into summery greenery
For the top of the pie safe, I added a vintage crock full of dried flowers, along with a smaller vintage crock, a stack of mini tobacco baskets, and of course a tea towel.

The cozy factor came with the textures, layers, and candles. I also added my vintage creamers, butter pat stacks, and ironstone berry bowls. That doily I think adds the perfect extra layer and texture plus it softens up the piece.

I hung this vintage frame and print on the door, truthfully, because the door was ugly otherwise. haha. I wanted something here like a wreath, but decided to do something different and added this frame. I love how together with the 2 round ones on the wall, it makes a trio. Things are always better in threes :)

Have you started decorated for fall yet? I have held off as long as I can! But the weather just today has told me that summer is fading. I'm so sad to see it go. I know we will have a few good days until October, which I will enjoy immensely! Be sure to come back next week as I share my fall front living room decor with you.
