Cozy Cottage Fall Dining Table Decor

What does fall look like to you? I know depending on where you live, it can totally be different than how it is to me. And truthfully, just depending on the year! This year, fall here has been quite beautiful, almost hot dare I say. It has been my second summer and I am loving it! If falls were like this, and winters were like our falls....I would be okay with fall coming around once a year :) The 80 degree to 90 degree temps has not helped me get into that "fall feeling" yet. So, I have decorated my house with what is currently going on outside. Fall decor doesn't always have to feel forced. I know some years, I felt forced to put out pumpkins, etc. It's just so much more cozy when it is natural. If putting out pumpkins is your thing in August, then by all means, you do you :) But for me, it's a slower process that gives me that feeling of fall...not the obvious things.

Here's what helps bring in that simple fall feeling:
  • Textures
  • Warm colors
  • Layers
  • Fall stems
  • Gourds
  • Pattern
  • Warm/low/dim lighting

With that being said, I'm sharing my cozy cottage fall dining room decor with you today! As I mentioned, I am adding into my decor what is going outside. What does that look like? Well, these yellow stems are on thing! They are everywhere outside. I also see green still...lots of it. And I am starting to see some fall leaves along the streets and sidewalks. So, it's kind of a mix of everything.

To add to the cozy feel of this room, I gathered up my dried gourds and yellow stems and put them into this cute woven basket. I then added lots of layers on the table and seating with pillows and throw blankets. Adding in the burnt orange on the blanket helped tie in some other elements of fall.

My fall dining room table decor is all about textures...lots of different ones! From the glass in the amber vases to the velvet on the faux leaf stems to the wicker on the basket.

Lots of layers is also included by stuffing this basket full of these amazing stems I found from Hobby Lobby a few years back. I also added more layers and textures with these worn books. Some pages have been placed as a runner to group the centerpiece.

I added vintage brass candlesticks and candles to amber vases to give a more vintage and cozy feel.

I played off the yellow stem colors from the crock and added more onto the top shelf to move the eye around the room. On this hutch, I still have some dried green stems from my boxwood out back and peppered in wood tones along with green ones to tie in the fall feel.

Both head chairs get a draped blanket and throw pillow to up the cozy factor. I even draped a throw blanket over one of the spindle chairs to soften the feel and bring in to more layers.

With decorating this fall dining table this year, I went with more is better :) Why stop at the centerpiece when you can add more to the table and it's surroundings? I added the stacked plates I found while thrifting, along with this old French crock. And then I went further and carried the look to the floor with the basket and dried gourds. Although all of this does get in the way during normal every day living...it sure is fun to look at!
I'm curious. what does fall feel like for you? Is it your favorite season and you can't wait to decorate for it? Or does it feel forced? Or are you like me where you just let it come naturally and enjoy the moment and season you are in...and when it gets here...it gets here? :) Either way, thank you for stopping by!
