I am enjoying this beautiful fall weather we are having this year! Usually we go from summer to winter weather and totally skip fall. It has been amazing, and because of that, lots of days are still being spent outside on my patio.
Last year, I bought a whole bunch of cinderella pumpkins to decorate my patio...yes, I know...I do the whole no pumpkin thing inside the house, but sometimes I just need to have some outside to actually feel like it's fall. So, back to it...last year's pumpkins ended up in a dirt patch by the playhouse this spring. They were half frozen and I just didn't get them all the way to the garbage can. Then lo' and behold vines started growing from them. These pumpkins on my patio are the product of those frozen pumpkins haha. I think I have about 15 of them total, with a few more on the vine. It was the best mistake I made!
Since we enjoy so much time out on this patio, it's only fitting to make it cozy just like indoors. I bring out all the layers with multiple rugs, blankets, and pillows.
Having ample amount of seating for our family and friends is a must since this tends to be the hang out place for my kids friends. Adding this random chair works as extra seating or a side table for drinks. And then the floor cushions are used when all the seats are taken.
To make this patio a little more private, I have this privacy curtain I installed almost 10 years ago ... yep! Just this year was the first year I changed out the curtains to new ones. The posts and the curtain rods have held up strong! The tutorial for the privacy curtain is here.
To add to the cozy cottage feel, I also hung an old wooden window frame from the rod and added a boho styled dream catcher to the post. If it's an outdoor living room, might as well make it look a real one! :)
This is on of my favorite places to prop up my feet and read a book. These floor cushions work wonderfully as a foot stool as well. As for the "coffee table", it's an old wine barrel cut in half and put upside down. It's definitely been weathered from many seasons outdoors to achieve the beautiful patina.
Another thing about this amazing weather is that my plants are still going strong, for the most part! The cold nights are getting to them, but the fact I still have some greenery in these vases this late in October is crazy! This plant on the coffee table is bacopa and is one of my favorites to put in pots for both my patio and porch.
Do you love spending time outdoors during the fall? For me, when it's this kind of weather...it's a definite yes! Although, I would always prefer it to be even warmer :)
