It's tiiiiiiimmmeeee.
Does that song every come into your head randomly during Christmas time? Well, it's finally time to share with you my cozy cottage inspired Christmas living room!

As with any space, this space has changed even up to the minute of taking these pictures. For Christmas, spaces for me never quite get finished. They are constantly changing. I'm sure that will continue to happen in here, but I wanted to share this room with you anyway in it's current state. In my front living room, I went with all natural greens and a Victorian feel...well, as you can see, I kept the full flocked and cozy feel in here!
For my Christmas tree decor, I added lots of extra greens I use for spring time decor...because why not :) I'm not usually one for traditional Christmas tree decor, so this fits for me. I also added dried oranges (tutorial here), drying balls (yep, weird I know...but they are so soft!), lots of white ball ornaments, small velvet bows, and 3 types of lights to give that heavenly glow.

I went somewhat simple with the mantel decor, bringing most of the attention to the swag on the left side with the bow and bells. The mantel is made up of 3 different types of winter garland and eucalyptus. This mirror I got from a vintage store earlier this year, and wanted to make it the focal point.

For the stockings, I made some cable-knit stockings out of a blanket two years ago and love them! Since though, I have added a couple of other stockings to the mix to keep the look a little different.

For the swag, I added these bells and tied a cute bow to it....because, apparently this is the year of the bow! For the rest of the mantel I included some candlesticks (both new and vintage) to the sides flanking the mirror.

I'm including this shot as a sneak peak of my next project I'm going to share with you! These cute DIY velvet balls found the perfect space behind the couch here.

This is one my favorite, coziest corners of this room. The chair gets so much love! It's the perfect place to cuddle up on. I made sure to add lots of layers here with this faux sheep skin rug, sweater blanket, and pillow.

I hung a wreath on this ladder and placed some bells in the middle with ribbon...because, well, ribbon is the new thing along with bows :)

Here's a close up of this side table. These cute trees I made from lace last year (tutorial here). I also took up embroidery last winter, and cranked out a few things that have become perfect additions to vignettes.

I've noticed a trend that is going away from flocked trees. How do you feel about that? I'm not sure...I literally flocked our tree (tutorial here) 5 years ago. I know trends change, but I don't want to see flocked trees go. There's a space for them as well as the others.

Here's a closer look at the coffee table. To warm it up, I placed a faux sheep skin rug on it and topped it with a vintage basket stuffed with flocked trees. These cute candle holders are a new find (find them here when they get in stock)

On the large wicker trunk I used a side table, I placed some vintage finds, books, and little trees to tie into the rest of the room.

For the other side of the room, I went with a cozy feel with pops of green with the pillow and greenery to tie into the wallpaper in the dining room.

All the layers are happening over here as well from the chunky pillows, blankets, and faux sheep skin rugs. Have you counted how many faux sheep skin rugs I have in here yet? I have quite a few in my dining room as well!

This corner is quickly become a favorite to decorate as it is slowly coming together with new and vintage finds.

Loving this candelabra I found at Hobby Lobby; I've linked a similar one below. These books are some of my oldest books from the early 1800s and need to be kept safe up here out of reach from kids..and well, mainly pets. To tie in the candelabra, I added yet another velvet bow :)

Here's a look at this tree without the lights to see more detail:

Here's a full look at this room in almost it's entirety. I love these arches in my home, I wish I could photograph them better!

Tips for Achieving the Perfect Cottage-Inspired Cozy Christmas Décor

  1. Use Flocked Christmas Trees for a Cottage Feel

    • Opt for a flocked tree to create a snowy, wintry ambiance.
    • Enhance the tree with fresh greenery, dried orange slices, and velvet bows for a natural and soft touch.
  2. Incorporate Layers for Warmth

    • Add faux sheepskin rugs, chunky knit blankets, and layered pillows to make your space inviting and cozy.
    • Choose neutral or muted tones to complement the cottage aesthetic.
  3. Focus on Natural and Handmade Elements

    • Use dried oranges, handmade lace trees, and embroidered ornaments to add a personal, rustic touch.
    • Incorporate eucalyptus and other fresh greens in garlands and swags for a natural vibe.
  4. Add Vintage Accents

    • Integrate vintage finds like antique picture frames, books, or mirrors to bring charm and character.
    • Pair these with new décor to blend modern touches with timeless pieces.
  5. Accent with Velvet and Soft Details

    • Use velvet bows and ribbon throughout the space, from wreaths to garlands and even candelabras, for a luxurious yet subtle effect.
  6. Mix and Match Stockings

    • Create custom cable-knit stockings for a personal touch. Pair them with complementary designs to add variation while keeping a cohesive look.
  7. Create Cozy Vignettes

    • Decorate side tables, coffee tables, and trunks with small flocked trees, baskets, candlesticks, and warm textures like faux fur.
    • Combine these elements for charming displays throughout the room.
  8. Add Bells and Natural Garlands to Mantels

    • Use frosted garlands combined with eucalyptus, ribbons, and bells for an elegant mantel design.
    • Let a vintage mirror or rustic centerpiece anchor the mantel.
  9. Tie in Greenery Throughout the Space

    • Incorporate pops of greenery with wreaths, pillows, and small plants to create unity in the décor.
  10. Use Thoughtful Lighting

    • Layer multiple types of lights on the Christmas tree for a magical glow.
    • Add candles and warm, soft lighting to highlight cozy corners and make the space feel welcoming.
  11. Keep it Dynamic and Evolving

    • Don’t be afraid to adjust and experiment with the décor as the season goes on. Cottage-style decorating is about creating a lived-in, ever-evolving charm.
