Vintage Christmas Tree and Decor | Front Living Room Tour 2024

Ahhh...it's Christmas time! Well, for some of us :) I know some don't like to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I'm obviously not one of those people. But, this is the latest I have decorated for Christmas in quite awhile! I have my front living room and living room trees up. Kind of decorated my dining room and entry way, and haven't touched my bedroom. Usually about now, all the above has been decorated from floor to ceiling.

I did get a head start on decorating my front living room and wanted to share it with you....literally like 2 weeks after I've had the tree up. I've been waiting for a couple of items to finish this room. Some have come, and some haven't. But, I just didn't want to wait any longer to share the entire room with you :)

My theme in here this year was a vintage Christmas...really though, I wanted this tree to look like a Victorian era tree. I went with a tree that had a shape of what a real tree would look like...sparse on the top, and full on the bottom. This tree is new and I am loving it! It has added the perfect quirky vibe. It's from National Tree Company (linked here).

For the decor on it, I created a blog post just for that specifically with all the links (click here). But in short, I added a lot of vintage gold ornaments and new ones I had...they reflect the light so beautifully! I also added velvet with the bows and the colored ornaments. Beaded garland is snuck in there as well as dried oranges. The icing is the aluminum tinsel ornaments as well as the actual tinsel. To make the tree appear a little fuller, I added eucalyptus leaves to the lower section.

Even though presents usually go underneath a Christmas tree, this tree is just for looks and doesn't tend to get presents under it. So, I decorated it with some faux sheep skin rugs, "old" books, gold ornaments and ribbon. Why do a plain tree skirt when you can do something a little more fun? :)

For the vintage Christmas mantel, I let the tree lead the way on how I should decorate this. So, a lot of what you find on the tree is on here.

The garland is made up of Norfolk pine garland, cedar garland, eucalyptus stems, and vintage ornaments strung below. It is topped with more dried oranges and a satin bow!

As for the mantel decor, I kept the mainstays of candlesticks and books. I decided to do a nod to another era with the Aphrodite head. To bring in the Victorian look, I added more bows the the candle sconces flanking the antique mirror. Most of the velvet ribbon was found at Hobby Lobby...but good luck getting any now. I managed to find a few at Joanns and also online from Amazon.

For the rest of the room, I actually left some normal spring/summer greens in here and tied in some more Norfolk pine garland and stems.

I would usually add so much more to this space, but really...I wasn't feeling it. I wanted to keep this place simple...well, Christmas decor simple :) Obviously this is far from simple and totally maxed out. haha.

To tie in the green myrtle tree, I just added a satin bow to go with the mantel mantel bow.
For fall, this area behind the couch was totally maxed out...it still is busy, but definitely a little more calm now. I brought in that hint of Christmas with the Norfolk pine stems. These one are from Joanns. You can find quite a few on Amazon as well.

The secretary hutch got a simple wreath placed on it. I found this vintage radio down in my basement..I totally forgot my mom had given it to me years ago. It found it's place up there along with my collection of hurricane lamps.
I tied some velvet ribbon on the wreath and hung a couple of gold bells.
I can't forget about this corner...eventually I'm sure it will be full of more vintage pictures.

Now for the tree being all lit up. It's not quite dark in here yet, but this will give you a good idea of beauty of this pre-lit tree. The lights seriously give the most beautiful glow!

Okay...so, now that I shared my vintage Christmas tree and vintage Christmas decor ... let's look back at last year. I can't believe how much it changed in here. This tree is giving off a totally different vibe than the flocked one I had!

I hope this has given you some vintage Christmas decor inspiration! I guess if it's Victorian era...that's not so much vintage really, is it? If you are here for the flocked trees...don't worry! My next two trees are still flocked! I'll be sharing my main 10 foot tall one with you next week!
